We’re extremely excited to announce that Natasha Khan has come together with YMC to design a limited edition collection.
Being huge fans of each others work for years it made perfect sense for us to work with singer-songwriter Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes, on an exclusive SS14 capsule collection. This is the first time that we’ve collaborated with a singer and for Natasha to design for a fashion house and we couldn’t be more excited with the result. The collaboration collection is a range of contemporary sportswear and accessories including printed t-shirts, caps and trainers and will be available in YMC stores and online.
Natasha on her inspiration for the collection – ‘It all came from a very light, playful place – starting with my romantic cut outs of a couple loving and living in the mountains, by palm trees, by the sea… I enjoyed the whimsical process of creating illustrations with the cut out method, sitting at a table listening to music, letting my drawings and cuts lead the way. Then choosing the colours from photographs I had taken of sunsets on my touring travels.’
This is all brought together with a self directed short video, produced by Neil Krug and a soundtrack made with Beck in California. Not only was the short produced by Krug but he also shot all the images for the collection, echoing the ‘trashy, playful, US motel aesthetic’ to accompany her inspiration of this sunset cut out lovers dream.
