“A typical jumble of ideas inspired by vintage kimono prints, early 60s West Coast surf culture and late 80s casuals” is how Fraser Moss of YMC describes the influences behind the label’s SS13 menswear collection.
A relaxed, unstructured silhouette makes for a laid-back look, while patterns inspired by the natural world are vibrant yet never gaudy. Fabrics, think Printed Silk Rayon, Coated Linens and Madras Check Cottons–are finely woven yet supremely functional. The mood? Care-free holiday dressing.
The colour palette is fresh; a mixture of lemon, green and pastels which compliment the strong prints of the season. Madras check, willow and leopard prints all feature in the form of 60’s inspired beach wear. Key pieces of the season include the reversible leopard print parker, the willow print jumpsuit and of course the classic pastel coloured chinos.
This season sees a cohesive footwear offering – the signature Punk Sandal has made a come back and is joined by the classic YMC desert boot.
A special collaboration between YMC and Liberty is also available for Spring Summer 2013; the collection showcases a range of classic YMC shoes, bags and hats that have been transformed with the iconic liberty print.
