Knitwear
Knitwear
Our knitwear is made from cashmere, wool, and cotton yarns in a range of weights and finishes. Knitted yarn creates a naturally delicate structure, and pilling is a normal characteristic that can be reduced by avoiding friction and careful storage. Heavier pieces should be handled with care to avoid snagging from jewellery or accessories.
Knitted pieces made from cashmere, wool, or cotton yarn should be cleaned only when necessary. Small stains can be gently treated with a soft cloth and mild soap. Hand wash using a mild detergent and avoid fabric softener, which can coat the fibres and reduce breathability. Wool is naturally anti-microbial and benefits from regular airing between wears.
Dry knitwear flat on a towel to absorb excess water and help retain its shape, reshaping while damp if needed. Store folded rather than hanging to avoid distortion, and keep away from direct sunlight. Air before storing and protect from moths where possible.
Cotton
Cotton
Cotton is a natural, breathable fibre used across a wide range of garments. It is naturally hypoallergenic, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Cotton can be hand washed or machine washed at 30°C. Use a mesh bag for delicate pieces to prevent snagging, and pre-treat stains before washing, testing on an inconspicuous area first. Hang to dry naturally where possible, as heat may cause shrinkage and fibre compaction.
Garment Dye
Garment Dye
Clothes are garment dyed after cutting and sewing, resulting in a rich depth of colour and subtle variations from piece to piece. The fabric will continue to soften and fade naturally with wear.
Natural colour loss may occur with wear and washing as part of the garment dye process. Wash inside out with similar colours and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to help preserve tone. Darker colours may transfer onto lighter fabrics, clothing, and upholstery.
Linen
Linen
Linen is a natural, highly breathable fibre with strong absorbent qualities. It often features natural neps, where variations in fibre thickness create a subtly textured surface. It dries quickly and naturally, making it ideal for warmer conditions.
Linen is naturally more prone to shrinkage than cotton when washed. Reshape garments while damp to help minimise this. Creasing is a natural characteristic and can be eased by ironing while the fabric is still slightly damp.
Lyocell
Lyocell
Lyocell is a regenerated fibre derived from wood pulp, known for its silk-like softness. It is naturally breathable and antimicrobial, and does not require frequent cleaning.
Lyocell fibres are weaker when wet, so care should be taken not to pull or twist garments during washing. Wash on a low temperature using a delicate cycle, and avoid tumble drying.
Viscose
Viscose
Viscose is a delicate, highly absorbent fibre known for its soft hand feel. It offers a smooth finish with a lightweight, breathable quality.
Viscose is prone to shrinkage when wet and is often best suited to dry cleaning, though always refer to the care label. If machine washable, use a delicate cycle with a mild detergent. Reshape gently while damp and allow to dry naturally.
Avoid tumble drying or high heat ironing, as this can damage the fibres. Do not wring or twist, as viscose is especially delicate when wet.
Denim
Denim
Denim is a durable cotton fabric characterised by its twill construction. Traditionally dyed with indigo, it softens with wear and develops a unique fade over time.
Due to its hardwearing nature, denim requires infrequent washing, often only a few times per season. Wash inside out to help preserve colour. As indigo dye sits on the surface of the fibre, some colour transfer may occur onto lighter fabrics and upholstery. Spot clean where possible and air between wears.
Wax
Wax
Wax coating is applied to fabric to create a shower resistant finish with a vintage look and feel. It develops a natural patina over time and remains breathable in wear.
Do not steam waxed garments, as this can displace the wax coating. Remove marks gently with a damp cloth and ensure the garment is dry and well ventilated before storage.
Waxed pieces can usually be machine washed on a cold, gentle cycle, but always check the care label and wash individually. Washing should be infrequent, and the wax finish may require reapplication over time to maintain its protective qualities.
Leathers
Leathers
Our leather garments, including leather, shearling, and suede, are handmade using traditional techniques with a focus on longevity. Each piece is designed to age naturally, developing character as the material’s natural qualities emerge over time.
To maintain condition and prolong the life of the garment, avoid direct or prolonged exposure to light and heat. Store in a cotton garment cover in a cool, dry space.
If the item becomes wet, remove excess moisture without rubbing, gently dab with a soft cloth, and allow to dry naturally at room temperature before storing. Leather can be spot cleaned with a slightly damp cloth and conditioned with a specialist leather balm to maintain suppleness. For suede or tougher stains, we recommend using a specialist suede cleaner.
